As the name “The Abbey” suggests, we hope to be a neighbourhood place of prayer, hospitality and sanctuary for all… A community of faith rooted in the Christian story… A group of ragamuffin stragglers who take hope in a simple ritual of bread and wine… Whoever you are – if you’re seeking a spiritual community that both firmly roots itself in Jesus Christ and welcomes doubts and questions and rough edges, we’d love to have you come and check us out.
Here are a few things to note:
* We’re still young! We Launched October 4, 2015 (The day the church remembers St. Francis) and are still figuring out how to be church together. Come and join us as we learn and struggle!
* The Time we meet is Sunday afternoons gathering at 4pm. We’re in transition through the summer of 2017 – and are re-launching on September 10, 2017 in a new location.
* Our Format is to share bread and wine together at Jesus’ table each week (Eucharist / Communion). Some weeks we’ll even share a full meal. Others will be more contemplative or rootsy. There will be songs. There will always be room (and often activities) for children – either in the worship, or nearby in the ‘children’s chapel’.
* We welcome everyone – no matter what you do or don’t believe to Jesus’ table of friendship and community. We are officially a part of both The Anglican Church of Canada and The United Church of Canada and have accountable relationships to those ‘tribes’ – but welcome all people as part of our community of faith.
